Principal

My name is Jennifer Doherty, and it is a true privilege to be serving in my second year with the Cabrillo community!

With over 25 years of teaching experience in both General Education and Special Education across elementary and middle school levels, as well as over five years as a middle school principal in San Jose, I have had the joy of serving students in many roles—including as an instructional technology coach and classroom teacher in English Language Arts, Social Studies, STEAM, and Special Education.

Throughout my career, I have been deeply passionate about leading programs that put students first—ranging from Title I initiatives, curriculum and instruction, and PBIS to project-based learning, English Learner Support, and Special Education Inclusion. My goal is always to ensure every student receives the personalized academic and behavioral support they need to succeed.

As a parent of two college-age sons, I deeply understand the vital role of the parent-school partnership in supporting our students. These personal experiences reinforce my belief in creating a welcoming, supportive, and success-driven environment where every student feels valued, challenged, and inspired to grow.

I am so excited for the journey ahead as we continue working together to build a thriving community for our staff, students, and families!
